We woke very tiered, yesterday had been a very long day met up with Rob and James quickly went to the Odessa steps and found somewhere for lunch. Yesterday i had mentioned about hopefully trying to find a really cool statue in Odessa shared the information and after lunch we set out to find it.
When Ukraine broke away from the USSR there was a statue of Lenin left near some government buildings. A Ukrainian artist decided he didn't want a former communist leader there so decided to change it to Darth Vader, thats right a Sith Lord he's swapped heads and swapped a sword for a light saber.
It took us roughly an hour to find as all the information i had was that the statue was in a courtyard near a bus stop on a street, this street is really long and has lots of bus stops and government buildings.
I thought wed found it, got sent the wrong way up a street, turned around went back paid a bribe of 200 Ukrainian and got our pictures, well worth the bribe!!
From here we drove to collect the ferry tickets and then decided to go to the beach where we sat had a chat with some locals who were interested in what were doing, swam for a bit then headed to the port for boarding where we met team Three stripes, a welsh team that had been in the area all day.
We initially booked a ferry that departed at 6pm, two nights ago the ferry got changed to 9pm the night dragged on and on and on, we went through the first checkpoint, no issues. We then queued up where we were told to wait and waited almost 2 hours then had to drive to another customs office to get our V5 and passport copies stamped, then all 3 teams had their cars searched. The welsh team had an issue and they seemed to quickly piss off the customs officer for drinking in the compound something everyone was doing and he did them for $50 and took their zippo lighter
We finally got on this ferry at 11.30pm but still didnt depart until 2.45am by this point bed was needed!
