The next morning we had a wash in a stream to wake ourselves up which was very cold and did the job and then attacked the Transfăgărășan highway which as I'm sure Top gear fans have seen looks stunning. We can confirm its so much prettier than what was on TV. The road is mental with some huge drops! There is also another side which wasn't shown on Top Gear that has an amazing lake that looks like it should be in Italy so naturally we stopped for picture time.
We continued on and stopped at a castle that Vlad the impaler had lived in which required a 30 minute hike up 1500 stairs. With no guarantee that we would be allowed in as wed forgot to get out Romanian currency and only had Euros with us, but the guard let us in and the views were yet again incredible! From here we drove all the way to the black sea on the eastern coast to have a organised party with the rest of the teams. It was this night where things got quite out of hand with the alcohol however a good time was had by all until the morning! On this night we sat and met a guy called Brian who wed seen briefly at other points in the rally, Brian is from the states and is a teacher, he's flown all the way to the UK to pick up a Bedford Rascal van from Sheffield drive it to Leeds to have it fixed and then at the last minute his friend dropped out so is now a one man team! Crazy how 1 man from the USA came so close to where we both live and now were sat drinking with him in Romania!
