With a quick dip in the black sea which is gorgeous! we urge everyone to come to Romania its an amazingly beautiful country with lovely people. From here we were on our own again due to the route we had chosen and took a long drive north to the Moldovan boarder which actually included a strange car ferry that the sat nav took us to. I don't know how we ended up here but it was funny and slightly crazy it all worked out in the end and everything was going fine until the Moldovan Border!!!!
As we approached from the Romanian side a gentlemen who spoke very good english told us that we dont have a "Green Card" this is like a temporary car insurance as Europe cover stops there, and although not an issue in Romania we will need one in Moldova and because we don't have one they may not let us into the country. Our plan was we were going to try and risk getting in and seeing what they say. we approached the boarder after waiting on a bridge with about 10 other cars and then finally got to the building that was the border.
Another man then came out and asked for green card and we said we didn't have one took our passports and V5 and went into a hut. He came back out in 5 mins and i can only stipulate that he began to tell us how to get a green card but spoke entirely in Moldovan another man came across who spoke in broken english and described it better.
Basically the car would stay in "no mans land" but we had to walk into Moldova to a small hut to get one, we were very nervous about this as we could of not been aloud back in to get the car leaving us shafted. Anyway i digress we found the hut they were talking about but there didnt seem
to be anyone in, with hopes fading fast a man and wife came up to us and spoke again in Moldovan and then in german i (Jamie) speak a very little german and i do mean very little so we had a conversation in Moldovan/german/english and everything was clarified. He then even drove us to the right place were another couple sorted the Green card out and then drove us back down to the border and we were through. Total time from arriving at the Romanian border to actually driving into Moldova was 3hours 45 mins!
We drove into the night on possibly the worst road ive ever seen and finally reached the capital Chisinau.
